Natto
Natto is an easy-to-eat food.
Recently, I often have lunch at home, so I bought it.
Certain number of Japanese people doesn’t like natto because of its smell, but I’m okay.
What is natto?
Natto is a food made by fermenting well-steamed soybeans with natto bacteria.
It is a traditional Japanese healthy food.
It is sold at supermarkets.
What I bought is one pack contains 3 doses, and it costs only about 80 yen.
It is low-priced and nutritious.
As it says “keep refrigerated (要冷蔵)”, when you buy it, store it in the refrigerator.
How to eat
The most common way to eat it is to put it on steamed rice.
I will explain how to eat it.
I bought natto which is packed in styrofoam containers.
It is 3 containers set.
Let’s open one of them.
This is for one meal.
It comes with sauce and mustard.
The sauce is soy sauce based.
If it doesn’t come with sauce, soy sauce is fine.
At first, remove the film. It is sticky, so be careful.
Stir the natto well by chopsticks.
By stirring the natto well to include air, it gets to be a fluffy texture.
It is so stringy.
Then add the sauce.
In addition, add the mustard if you like.
Now stir the natto well again to mix them.
Finally, put it on steamed rice and it is done!
Natto goes well with rice.
Where to try
Natto is sold at supermarkets, but if you are traveling to Japan, I recommend you to try at hotel breakfast.
We often see it served at the hotel breakfast.
Natto is often eaten for breakfast.
If you are interested in it, why don’t you try it?
But remember that I don’t guarantee at all if it will fit your taste!
